Where can I get my wheels powder coated gold
« on: 28 June 2012, 01:16:04 pm »
Recently, A blue Gen 1 Fzs1000 like my own stopped next to me at some lights fitted with what looked like standard wheels painted gold.  I was in my car so I couldn't stop him.

I have seen this same colour on wheels of 08 blue R1, as now mine is a keeper does anyone know where there is a Company capable of doing the same transformation?  I don't mind paying or travelling for a good job done.

Any recomendations appreciated.

Would help a bit to know where you're from? There are 2 companies on the same stretch of industrial estate by me (Redditch) who I use. Redditch shot blasting & Washford finishings. Both good, both fairly similar on price. Just paid £90 to have my wheels done gold at Washford finishings which was a tenner more than the other place but the guy took my old tyres off & fitted my new ones.  8)

In the 1980's you used to be able to get some really good paint for alloy wheels from Halfords and other motor factors. The Gold was especially good giving a really professional looking finish really easily, if the wheels were marked during tyre changes they were easy to touch up with just a quick rub down and spray over. Not seen it for years, anyone know if they still do it (think it was called Gun Coat or something like that)

Been thinking of getting a second hand set of wheels and having them done gold myself, with new tyres and new bearings etc, I believe there are a few good places up in the North West near me, will have to do a google search.

Triple S aren't the cheapest, but the quality of their work is excellent & well worth paying for in my opinion.

My Fazer is blue and I've been thinking of getting them powder coated Gold for some time but was worried about damage during tyre changes so might just get them spray painted for easy touch up repairs?

Details would be great thanks  :D

Used a place at the side of Dallow Bridge a few years ago for some stove enamelling but wasn't impressed.  :(

Hi all if remember rightly button stove enamellers down branston road did a set of TZR250 wheels for me years ago. They looked great , then when I fitted them I chipped a bit off near wheel eating. Gutted I was, touched it up but never looked right.
As Karlo says one down Wetmore road good, as I have stuff they have done for other folks in the past.

Must get round to getting mine done, a good job gets rid of those crappy casting marks on the hub area and spokes.

My fazer gen 1 is mistral grey with black wheels as standard, like gunmetal colour.

Any suggestions to what colour I should do em?

Cheers jacko
