Starter motor gen 1

Alright chaps, starter motor is on its way out (having to rock bike in gear to get it to fire at times). I’ve got a new motor eh route from the bay. Is it a straightforward swap as I’ve not had a chance to look?

Looks very easy to me. Two bolts and a cable.

Unusual thing to go on the Gen 1, have you tried shorting the solonoid heavy duty cables when it happens? Dodgy starter is often mistaken for a dodgy solonoid

Got a new solenoid on the way unfazed. Will try swapping that out first but both were inexpensive so worst case I bought a part I didn’t need and have a spare 🙈
I don’t think my poor fazer spending winter outside has done it any favours

Changed out the solenoid tonight and fired up straight away a couple of times so hopefully that’s all it needed.
Can anyone confirm from the manual what amperage of fuse is needed for the solenoid? The one I took out had 30A in but the one I fitted had 20A fuses in it. The battery and starter motor terminals were the wrong way round as well which was a bit of a pain...

Main fuse in the solenoid is 30 amp on the Fazer 1000.
