Nose cone removal / Streetfightering..
« on: 21 September 2011, 10:38:33 pm »
Evening everyone,

I fancy taking the nosecone off my 2003 and fitting twin dominators. Has anyone out there done it? I'm sure the headlight side of things will be fairly straightforward, the bit that worries my is what to do with the clocks.

Any pointers would be great.

Cheers

Hi, i was planning much the same with mine, i am going to fit a single 7" headlight and fabricate a bracket to mount the clocks bolted to the bottom of the top yoke, i have seen it done but cant find an off the shelf bracket.

When I had my naked hack, I made this bracket for the clocks. Just played around with print settings till it were printing at actual size, cut it out, then used that as template for 2mm steel. Holes at bottom fit under top yoke, using handlebar riser mountings.
Think I did end up shortening the bracket 15-20mm, to make a much neater fit, but at least this will give you something to start with.

Hi Dave G printed at 208% and all the measurements are as near as a near thing, when you say you shortened it i assume that is the the section where it is bent

Hi Ian. Yes, shortened it at the bent section, am pretty sure it was 15mm, to get the clocks nice an close to the top yoke. Obviously tweak the bend to suit. The mounting point is a fiddle to get over the ignition barrel, but it does go.

Couple of years since I did mine, an that bike's gone now, will have a look for a pic though.

Oh, and Suzuki SV650 headlight brackets make a real neat job of things too.. Shortening an tidying the loom is straightforward, bracket for the rec/reg is simple, an used an 8" round headlight on mine. Bike looked good imo, an was fun, well worth doing. Anything else just shout..
