she let me down..
« on: 18 March 2019, 10:43:35 am »

key in, datatool disarmed, ignition on, neutral light up , wait til fuel pump clicking stops, hit the button. nothing. leave it for a bit try again. neutral light on again but no fuel pump clicking, though it could be primed now. still nothing. sigh. the joys of running old bikes..Anyhoo ill have a cup of tea and then get out and check the obvious (fuse, sidestand switch) first..
Picking up dynspuds 600 today. that could be fortuitous.. :lol

looking through some old posts it seems theres two things to try. the first is switch cleaner on the kill switch, the second is possibly removing the old datatool. I like having it on the bike  because I have to park it up in Bristol, which is renowned for thieveing bike scrotes, but I could always double up on the locks or even take a chain in with me. I took the datatool off my old zzr1100, and its an easy enough job (and kinda satisfying) to cut out the datatool wires and re solder and heat shrink the originals back together and repair the loom

Sorted. Was my fault not the bikes. If you use your fazer all year round you gotta keep the preventative maintenance up.. I did not. Starter switch had corrosion so cleaned that out along with the run switch and it’s all tickety boo. Had noticed the throttle was stiff awhile back turned out cables were dry so ran three in one oil through them while it was apart, along with cleaning the corrosion off the bar end under the throttle and dry lubing it all. Smooth as silk now..
