fork brake hose "M" bolt size
« on: 26 February 2019, 07:30:27 pm »
Can any of you nice foccers help me out, whats the M size of the bolt that holds the brake hose on the forks and the swing arm please?
I bought all new wezmoto racelines braided brake hoses  F & R and new ebc sintered pads, cleaned up the caliper pistons and smeared them in red porno grease.I am going to paint the old silver pitted forks gold, swap the seals for new and change the oil for 15w i thought that its best if i buy some nice new shiny "P" clips for the race lines to finish it off.
now im not daft but is a hex head of 10mm a M8 or an M10??i would assume that the 10mm hex head is at least 2mm bigger (maybe more than the thread)  making it a M8 thread
is my way of thinking correct or totally wrong.
will get some pictures up soon of the foccing transformation, i'm not spending 100's of thousands on a 18 year old bike but it needs a bit of a change.
hope you can help me out quickly as my parcel with all my bit is coming to lithuania on feb 13th and i need to get the rest of the goodies ordered quick
adios amigos

Standard thread diameter for a 10mm hex is 6mm dia, or M6. However, thats not always the case, as youll sometimes get larger and samller hex's on an M6 threaded fastener. Sure fire way to find out is carefully remove the old screw/bolt and measure the diameter. Also be aware of the existence of the Metric Fine thread pitch. Make sure you know what it is you want

Thanks Agricola
lightining quick response i'll take it to the local equivalent of Bummers & Queers and measure it on their free calipers :) I'm going to use the STD bolts anyway (painted of course)  just would rather buy P clips without having to drill them out.

Have a look in the parts catalogue in the download section. The part number should tell you the correct bolt
