New Owner In Louth
« on: 08 January 2019, 10:40:59 pm »
Hi,
Just on the verge of becoming a Fazer owner with a deal struck on a 2001 fzs600.

Just before I part with my cash I'll throw a debate open.
Which bike should I get?

01 fzs600 with 8.5k. Sold by a work colleague & has been well looked after
08 fz6 with 50k. Sold by a retired gent who has maintained it irrespective of cost.

There is £350 difference.

I know there'll be views about which is the better bike.  It'll be used for a 25 mile round commute all year round. That's it.

Any thoughts?

Also anybody local to Louth or Grimsby areas?

Hey Middy, welcome to the fold.
Im jist down the road from you in Cleethorpes 👍 quite often riding through yiur neck of the woods to play on the wolds or head up to cadwell. Also frequent Willingham woods 1 or 2 Wednesdays a month in the summer.

As for your bike dilema, I personally would take the older fzs600 with the low mileage. They are still cracking bikes and if it's been looked after it will last you a lifetime.
With so few miles it should still be like a new bike 👌

Which one did you go for in the end?

I went old and am very happy with my decision. I've added heated grips and spotlights.
Changed the indicator lenses to smoked and a smoked tail light is next.

Great bike. Can be ridden conservatively or get her beyond 6k revs and she takes off nicely.

It'll be a long and fulfilling relationship I hope.

Hi from foccer in Offaly...
the 01 fzs600 with extremely low milage sounds great...mine is also 01..with about 50K up..
the older bike with carbs has more guts than the later fuel injected one....happy riding :D
