Original fitment tyres
« on: 14 December 2018, 01:42:09 pm »
Can anyone on here confirm the make and model of tyres that the FZS600 was fitted with from new?
Did it change between '98 and '03.

The earliest photo i have of my '01 600 has Bridgestone BT020s on it. They were probably the originals, because I've usually replaced tyres with Metzlers.
Couldn't say if Yamaha always used the same suppliers, though.

I was gonna say that the OEM tyres would be irrelevant now, as they have been surpassed and bettered many times over.

Mine (bought new in 1998) came with Bridgestone BT57s.
I think in later years they used Bridgestone BT010s.

Bridgestone BT57s were the original fitment for several years. I think the official manual also lists a Michelin as original fitment.

Same here, 98 BT57s but mate had a 99 which had Dunlops, I remember the dealer telling him his bike was fitted with these instead of Bridgestones, whatever Yamaha had in stock maybe.

My 2003, last of the Foxeyes had Dunlop somethings from new. They were terrible. First change was to Michelin Pilot Road 2s, and what a difference!

My 2003 Foxeye must be one of the last and that was originally fitted with the Bridgestone 020/021's
