My new chain slack measuring device

After spending many years trying to accurately measure chain slack, came up with this.

If you have a long stemmed allen key in your toolkit, offer it up halfway along the underside of the swingarm and mark it where the adjusted chain is, then just put a hacksaw cut on the mark, sorted. Came in really handy  away on trips when the chain needed adjusting quite regularly, especially with my Triumph. Never needed to adjust the Fazer chain on a trip though.

Easier still, rotate the wheel until the tight spot of the chain is on the low part of the run.  Push the chain up directly beneath the guide on the lower part of the swingarm.  It should just touch.  If it doesn't, it's too tight - which is bad - and too slack will be obvious to see as well. :)
