Chain tension

(1/1)

Gazza:
Just fitted new chain and sprockets , just checking chain tension , got it too 30mm movement is that about right , bandit before Fazer was 25 to 30 mm , not got a manual yet ,thanks .

Grahamm:
I have the FZ6-SA (the version before yours) and the recommended chain tension was 45-55mm (doesn't matter if it's on the side stand or centre stand). According to the Haynes Manual, it's the same for the S2, so 30mm is too tight.

A quick and dirty check I found is to try to push the chain up against the swing arm about 3 or 4 inches behind the foot peg. If it just taps against the swingarm but you have to keep pushing it to hold it there, the tension should be about right. If you can't get it to touch or it it's very easy to hold it there, it's too tight or loose respectively.

agricola:
45mm to 55mm for the S2 Fazer
