2005 FZS1000 - SOLD
« on: 25 July 2018, 04:40:49 pm »
Spring is nearly here - so I'm offering this again. Bargain at £2490.

I’m reluctantly considering parting with my Fazer 1000. I’ve owned this bike from new but I’m getting to an age where the knee bend is just too much and is becoming a deterrent to riding. It must be one of the best available at its age having only covered 17,300 miles and rarely been out in the wet. Pictures show the condition, here’s a summary of its features;Perfect running order (as you would expect)
1 owner (me) from new (2005)
Full monty Ivan’s kit fitted by Mike
Blue (the later darker blue)
17, 300 miles
Carbon Can exhausts (std can available if required)
AIS removed
R6 shock (around 5k miles on this)
Venhill brake lines
R1 Shift mod (plus std parts)
Heated grips
Hugger
Mirror extenders
Exup valve maintained regularly from new!
Yamaha engine bars
Gear position indicator
Alarm
MOT till May 2019

On the negative side, there is a small crack on the left hand side infill panel and a slight scuff on the alternator cover.

Bike is located near to Glasgow.

I’m looking for £2700 or very near offer. Bike is located near to Glasgow. Note that bike is cuurently fitted with Garmin satnav mount that will be removed prior to sale.

Nice machine, but can you not just use a combination of lower Buell footpegs and an additional inch of seat foam to reduce your knee bend?
Doing both gets you the same lower body ergonomics as an FJR1300, unless you're just wanting an Adventure bike type riding position.

Kebab19 – thanks. I have tried adjustable foot rests that gave about an inch drop along with an air cushion on the seat. It does help, but my problem is that serious painful cramps set in after an hour or so.  Its now at the stage where I’m using the bike less as a result. I had a seat on a Triumph Explorer 800 at the weekend and it started me thinking that it was maybe now is the time to part with the Fazer – I’m 60 next year and want a bike I keep riding for a few years yet. Any suggestions on how to make the Fazer more comfortable are very welcome as I would rather keep it. I can set the footpegs with up to 40mm offset, but that means the gearshift and brakes are out of adjustment range.

I'm in Glasgow and my mate wants a fazer 1000. His budget is about £2000....
If it's broken, it's not fixed.
