Come on England 3hrs empty roads 1500hrs sat
« on: 06 July 2018, 06:30:54 am »
Can't wait for the England game. Bikes fuelled up, tyres checked, oil checked, 2/3 hours empty roads aaaaaahhhhh bliss, won't see a kick of the ball or a penalty taken or many cages trying to make scrap out of my bike and me.

I had the exact same idea, but need to be home before they all drive home drunk from the pubs - win or loose
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

I do hope so for an extra 30 mins on the bike, but I would be more than happy if England win in 90 mins :) with  no extra time and no f*****g penalties :eek .

+1.

I was car cleaning in the shade at 9am this morning and still came indoors soaked in sweat. I really suffer in this weather.

Some people don't feel the heat like others though. I've seen people cycling at midday with coats on and bikers in full leathers as fresh as anything without a bead of sweat on them.

I guess it's just the luck of the draw :rolleyes

I've been on my jollies this weekend- Glasgow to Sheffield 250 miles in a little over 4 hours on relatively empty roads Yay footballs coming home! Every vent on my jacket was open but I was still sweating like a gypsy with a mortgage.  :lol

Well I jumped at the opportunity and rode up to the Cat and Fiddle via Matlock bath- 1st picture then Bakewell on to Buxton to Cat and fiddle - which is shut. Rode through to Macclesfield and did a U Turn and did it all again in the opposite direction. It has 50mph average speed cameras which actually is quite generous considering some of the bends and the pot holes in the middle of them  :eek . Big detour around Bakewell on the way back cause of a stupid carnival - marshals were stopping people and directing telling them-left - second left right left left right EH!!! I forgot the very second I pulled away and got lost.
Gave myself a detour to east midlands airport and put my feet up watching planes take off, back home after 6 hours and 198 miles.
The only time I was hot was when I stopped to take pictures.

I rode over the Cat and Fiddle a few months ago and the speed cameras didn't bother me as I was never gonna get up to that sort of speed - then the downhill bit was covered in loose chippings and I was down to 15 mph!

I had to drive to Norwich today and we left at about 2:30. Oh it was bliss. Empty roads and a good chance to test out how quick my car accelerates from 60 to 100. Nearly as much fun as riding a bike.

No sign of the loose chippings now, all settled in and new lines painted. The cameras are in sections though so they cover the not so bendy bits separately so you can not rely on your lower bendy bit speeds bringing down your average for the slightly less bendy bits as they have their own sections covered.
Now that I have done it - twice, I dont feel the need to do it again as there are just as good roads a lot nearer to me with out average cameras, I just felt that it was something I needed to do on my bike. - Snake pass next

Aaaaaahhhhhh sheer bliss empty roads didn't see a police officer in the 2 hours out on the bike. Still had a close shave with a SMDSY and the stupid tw*ts on phones in the towns, but the country  roads of Leicestershire and Northamptonshire were a joy to ride on. Got home wringing wet but feeling great, and bonus England had won with no extra time or penalties recorded the game so watch it later.

Thinking of popping over your way this morning for a ride along the B6047 to Melton. But I usually start from the Melton end and don't bother crossing the A47

If you couple up that road with the B676 from Melton towards Bourne you will have a cracking ride.

Cheering for the Croatian neighbours tonight, sorry guys.

Though last night I cheered for the Belgiums. Not because I hate the French more, just so I could (hope to) watch England fight with France for the 3rd place.  :)

On a more serious note - great job by Southgate. The way England plays, as well as for finally learning how to shoot the penalties.  :)
French are the team I'd put my mony on for winning the cup, but I'll be cheering for Croatia, or England - whoever reaches the finals of the two. Still, would really love to see a (former) Yugoslav team win a world cup for once. If we hadn't been stupid enough to destroy our (former) country and divide it into 6 small private run ones, it would have made a terrific national team if nothing else.
Most things done in a hurry need to be done again - patiently.
