Selling Fazer dilemma: advice please
« on: 14 June 2018, 05:21:49 pm »
Hi guys,
Sad times but I've barely used my '02 Fazer 600 in the past year so time to sell. The problem is the Fazer has been stood in a mate's garage since last autumn and now isn't running properly. It's ridable, but doesn't accelerate cleanly (it kinda 'chugs'). I've been told the carbs are probably blocked cos it's been stood so long. I'm no good at mechanical stuff myself, so would have to pay to get it fixed.

So my dilemma is: is it best to try and sell it cheap as it is, or pay possibly £200+ to get it in tip top condition and then sell?

I've no idea what the market is like for old gen 2 Fazers these days. I've looked at prices on eBay but they seem to vary hugely. A local bike dealer has offered me £750 for it. I don't mind letting it go cheap to avoid the faff of having the work done and selling it privately, but £750 seems ridiculously low!

Thoughts??

as it is, £750 from a dealer is good. They probably don't realise the issues.

in top condition you might get £1500 more likely £1200. Sounds like blocked carbs to me too.

Another ex-Fazer rider that is a foccer again

Buy "sea foam " on e bay.  trust me, put loads in tank, run the bike so it gets into carbs. then go for a run on the bike.
The stuff is amazing.

Drain the old petrol out and put some fresh stuff in with a fuel system cleaner. You might get lucky

Put the whole bottle in with a full tank of higher octane fuel.
