Radiator
« on: 11 June 2018, 09:39:59 pm »
Hey All.
Went for a ride yesterday and today just noticed that my radiator is leaking. Any one have or know a place where I can get a second hand one?

cheers

I don't know about second hand, but coincidentally I was just looking at parts on eBay and there's new ones on there for around £60. I don't know what the qualities like though.

Leaking from where, can you see the exact spot?

I bought one of these cheap Chinese radiators off ebay for my FJR1300, it was similar price, the quality was good and it was easy to fit as the brackets were in the right place. I know the radiator is still ok as that is one of the few things the new owner of the bike hasn't had go wrong despite dropping it 3 times in the last year.

Why not consider getting it repaired. At least you'll know it will fit. :)

Thanks for the replies.
Is from the rad alright not from the hoses as i turned the bike on and when i rev it a can see the coolant leaking from one the cells of the rad.
Fixing it.. I think i better buy a new one as this is the original and is 15 years old.
I was looking at these https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Aluminium-Racing-Radiator-for-Yamaha-FZS600-Fazer-1998-2003-Engine-2002-2001/253252829705?hash=item3af70b8209:g:dZQAAOSwY~1aIPjT#shpCntId anyone has used these before.

Also yesterday i was removing the old rad and one of the nuts that holds the rad fan were locked and i had to use extra force to get it out after hitting it up. When i took the rad off the fan blades came off the fan. I am not sure if this was just sitting there - which i dont think so or it was glued. I tried to put it back but i don't seem to figure out how did it came out.
Are these clued to the based of the fan?

thanks

That looks good to me. At least, it doesn’t have the problem I experienced with cheap Chinese copies where the angle of the inlet port is wrong.
I’ve just looked back at the old post where I wrote about this and found the pics were not loading so I’ve fixed that.
As for the fan, it's a fiddly thing that serves no purpose in my experience... so mine now hangs on the garage wall.  :lol
