Gen 2 racing
« on: 24 May 2018, 11:05:40 am »
Well I raced the tarmac tracks last year, one incident, Cadwell, got rammed, 2 broken ribs ECT,, but only missed one race weekend.
Second race meet this year, last week at Cadwell,, practice day went onto grass, dropped it,,screwing fairing and fibreglass, scrutineered for Saturday and Sunday races ok..
Sunday I got two 3rds in my class, well chuffed, got some silverware.Fazer gen 2 went well, can't be many with trophies.

I have now, following the advice of Devilsyam put R1 2004 forks on,they supposedly have updated internals, k.tech
Which com with radial brakes,,waiting for pads,,,and have now fitted clip.ons,,so looks a bit more race,,I got some odd looks in the paddock and on the grid..especially when I beat them on their R1 or Zx10  :lol .so looking forward to testing the new setup,,we have practice day next Friday, Snetterton then Saturday and Sunday racing.come see,,I am the old bugger getting in the it way  :lol

Great action photos and respect to you slimwilly. It takes guts to race a motorbike and I would never have had the balls to do it even when I was a lot younger. Are you doing the Anglesey 100 Club meeting at Anglesey on 23rd/24th June ? I have a season pass so should be there.

Then sad news, my frame cracked,  :'(
I have thrown it down the road a bit mind,,cant complain, its been brilliant nearly two seasons of thrashing and crashing.
Until this I have never fell off a bike but at this you get used to it, but circuits are much safer than roads,  well over a hundred and lose the front on the brakes, slide and slide and see your bike bouncing, jumping down the field, haha,,then get a 3rd trophy next day, good job I had a spare front fairing made up.

So out with the internet and buy the cheapest 2004 R1 so that all my wheels, engine protectors fit and found a little beauty, a bit of work to get fairings to fit, replace broken engine mounting bolt,,I had bought some R1 upgraded forks for 5he Fazer so they went straight on,the bikehad a £1,000 rear ohlins shock, nice, a £200 ohlins steering damper and a £400 GPS lap timer.

At Pembrey first time I had clutch slipping problems so I have learnt how to change the clutch, new plates in.
All this for £3200

Then on to Castle coombe, new track to me a real fast track, tight chicane 150mph main straight, the rear wheel slides at over a 100 coming onto main straight, great feeling.
I got a second and a third

Oulton park was the last race,, I entered the open too as we only had one race, wet track qualified 20th in the open then not long after was our qualifying and I got onto the front row, 3rd,  from about 30 bikes,,later on the open race  I fucking dropped it on the warm up lap, broke my handle bar off, foot peg, shifter..
We got it ready in amazing time thanks to mates and missed the warm up lap for my race so they put me at the back of grid,,I started 28th and finished 15th, 5th in class,,a good day I suppose, not hurt, lol
I finished 3rd in our streetstock class overall, 8 trophys,  very very happy and continually surprised how life throws these opportunities my way , I shocked myself, my friendsthink I am crazy, well,,,,,,maybe  :lol
