Hi guys, I am going down the route of a 4 digree ignition advancer, I have removed the cover and my ignition pick up is marked "Denso 4xv" does anyone know is this an origional item or does the 4xv mean its a 4 digree advance?

That’s original mate, 4xv is just the model number of the bike (engine). I changed mine & the nut was tight as foc to get off but that’s the hard part. Once changed I though it was a slight improvement, nothing to rave about best of luck

Thanks for the info, you were right about the nut, I had to put the bike into gear and stand on the brakes to move it.

I had my mechanic fit one whilst bike was in for first major service (at 30k, ahem).


I love the bike now, so much so I've left my Z1000SX in the garage this year, despite it being more "convenient" for my touring actiities.


I think it pulls a lot better from low down, although in fairness, this is in conjunction with Super Unleaded.


It did seem to run better on the Super Unleaded before, but since the advancer was fitted, it has felt a bit rougher on the couple of normal unleaded tankfuls I've used.
