I'd put traps down with peanut butter as bait, they love it.  :b

The trouble with poisoning them is they creep off somewhere inaccessible to die and then stink the place out.
A trap would be my choice.

Put peanut butter down in my shed as they were eating the sack of bird food. Nothing. Mind you, I haven't had any more bird food taken either. I reckon they've cleared off. Last seen heading west. Some talk about a garage with cosy classic car  :lol

Conventional traps and peanut butter, as others have said, they love the stuff!

If you would like me to pop over and point out all the faults with trap placement and point out all the holes in all your stuff I would be more than willing to come and "help".  ;)

They came into my house under the floor boards during the cold weather this winter.  Heard them one night.  Got some traps and peanut butter the next day.  Caught two in humane traps and released some distance away, one other got snared in a conventional trap.  All sorted in under 48hrs.

The trouble with poisoning them is they creep off somewhere inaccessible to die and then stink the place out.

Also they develop resistance to the poison and you find the pellets nibbled on for the grain inside and the poison shell lying on the ground! :(

Some might say its cruel, but then so is a mouse trap, poison is a slow and painful death and an air rifle pellet to the head is a difficult shot with two bikes and a classic car in the garage.
But this method is no risk to anyone, and to be honest is quite exciting going out to the garage/shed in the mornings.
You need to be careful to get the balance right on the batten or wooded ruler plus a small amount of crumbs around the bench end of ruler and a line of biscuit crumbs along ruler leading to 1/2 biscuit balance at the end of the ruler.
The rest is self explanatory and it works much to my delight.

No,no,no I have caught mice this way honestly it works, once the ruler starts to tip the mouse is toast they cannot back up and them jumping about in panic cause the ruler to tip faster.

A fully grown mouse can get through a gap the size of a 5pence piece now the cold weather snap has gone they will go back out side. An old fashioned trap is the best way to rid your shed of them. Look for the runs they use easy to see these runs they will be discoloured as mice urinate constantly when moving around place your traps there. Block up any holes where they are getting in if you can find them. Try not to use poison bait unless you put it in lockable bait stations and check traps and bait stations every day. Dispose of the bodies by sealing in poly bag and putting in the dustbin, if you use poison most are anti coagulants which can will effect dogs, cats and birds if they eat the dead mice.

On the bright side where you have mice you wont have rats and visa versa,  Good hunting

Morning all....well , just been out to the garage to check the traps baited with chocolate spread last night , two traps and it looks like ive caught mum and dad.......as a bit of a softie southerner I feel a bit guilty now knowing the young uns are on thier own and will probably starve , so probably best to try and find the nest and save them and return to the east where they came from    ;)

Best thing to do now  ?.................its sunday and dry , iam off on the FAZER    :thumbup

You could use a 'humane' trap.

https://www.toolstation.com/shop/p60863?r=googleshopping&rr=marin&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzvLRy_272gIVzbHtCh3_0AFGEAQYAiABEgIqN_D_BwE

Having said that I caught mine during a cold snap.   They seemed a little slow in the morning, looked to be soaking in their own sweat and piss - must be distressing to be stuck in a trap for hours.  Then got dumped in a field in the middle of nowhere.  Lots of folks said, they’ll be fine, but I dunno.

Traditional trap is cheap, quick and effective.

For real sadists there are the various versions of the DIY water trap.  Though you can make a ‘humane’ version with just enough water to stop em jumping out of the bucket but not enough to drown em.
