Rough idling/cutout when hot
« on: 14 April 2018, 02:15:16 pm »
i have a gen 1 1000  2001 with 32000 miles. It starts fine and runs fine until it gets hot. And the when it’s ticking over it starts hunting and eventually dies. I can adjust the tick over and it’s fine for a while then starts to die again it’s gradual. It starts again with no problems after it cuts out. It has been in the garage twice carbs been off and cleaned and a full service, and ideas or suggestions please.

If you leave the bike to cool down when you start it again it races because I have adjusted the tick over up. If I adjust it back down it’s fine then until it gets hot again.

Smacks of float needle valve seat O-ring failure.  Not an issue when the motor is cool but as the engine warms, the rich misfire starts to affect the idle.  Also, it takes a while for the fuel level to rise above the norm as the leakage is probably not that severe at the moment.

Thanks Falcon, reading the link you put seems like that’s the problem. So it’s going in next week to be done 🤞
