Fairing for 2003 fazer
« on: 08 April 2018, 09:21:57 pm »
Hi all  :D
Anyone know of the best place to source a (red) nose fairing for my 2003 Fazer?
Ebay reveals little more than a few knackered and tatty examples or the odd replica (from Poland I think - any good?) which would need spraying.
Mine has sustained a crack around the offside indicator; a result of a "clumsy moment". Only about 2 inches but deeply irritating.
How easy or practical is a professional repair? I have fabricated something using Araldite plastic weld and touch up paint which is holding up ok but its a bit like having a nice shirt with a stain on!
Ive been told the fairing can be repaired but the whole thing would need respraying as well as new decals - a royal pain in the derrière!!

Yours hopefully

Cheers
Richard

Not only will it be difficult to find due to age, it is also a common place to crack anyway over time so chances are you'll be buying a similar item, with some sort of damage either there or somewhere else on it.

More people are born because of alcohol than will ever die from it.

Try Fowlers, or any Yamaha main dealer. Brand new OE £222 https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/4181807/fzs600-fazer-5rt4-2003-130-c/cowling

Thanks folks. Funnily enough a red fairing has turned up on fleabay but.... well f***ed doesn't begin to cover it!!
Fowlers want 220 notes for a pre painted red one; then there stickers to add. Would look cool but a lot of money for a 14 year old bike (albeit with 11000 miles and in excellent nick)
I guess its a question of any real point on such an old machine. Fairing looks ok at the mo; the repair is reasonably solid its just the painting over of the repair. Like I said, a nice shirt with a stain on; you always know its there

Cheers again for the replies  :)

Mine's exactly the same. Red 2003 and it rolled forward off the side stand about 10 years ago   :o Don't look at the crack,  and it'll go away  :rolleyes

You could always smear a bit of filler in there and get a paint touch up bottle mixed up. I’ve taken plastics into a local paint shop and they’ll mix some up with a little brush for about £5. Or find the paint code and order online.

Edit, I see you’ve already got touch up! One other suggestion is a bit of thin aluminium behind the crack to strengthen it and use some more adhesive.

You see that kind of damage on loads of bikes where the winkers got through the fairing, I prefer older methods where they are bolted onto a proper bracket which normally only sacrifices the winker and easy replacement.

Yep 😂
Honda actually refer to them as ‘winkers’ in some of their old microfiches too 😀😀

Oh my giddy aunt.........winkers !!!!!!
Those in Honda responsible for this are a complete bunch of Winkers........they're "indicators"...... and at my age, I can't deal with too many "Winkers" !!
