Problem after rebuild, clicking fuel pump?

It’s a 2003 fazer 600 I stripped it for painting and I’m now in the process of putting it back together, but one of the exhaust header studs has stripped and can’t get a stud extractor on it because it’s too tight a gap.... but the main issue is


When I turn the ignition on there’s a clicking coming from the fuel pump area.... it stops after a few seconds if I then fire the bike up it carries on clicking the whole time the bike is running, none of this was happening before I stripped it 🤔 any help would be massively appreciated

Is the fuel tap turned on?

As 'unfazed' says check the tap, but while the tank is lifted make sure the pipe from the tank hasn't sat wrongly and kinked at all.

Thanks for the advice I’ve just left for work and won’t be home til gone 6 I’ll check all that as soon as I’m home....    want to go home now!

😢 the tap was on, no kinks in the pipe.... same issue

It take a while for the carbs to fill completely.
Do not start it, switch on the ignition turn on the kill switch, wait until the pump times out clicking stoops. Switch off ignition switch, switch it on again, do this until it stops clicking, carbs should be full then. Could 5 or 6 ignition on offs.
Then start it.

Thanks for that, as soon as I get the exhaust back on I’ll try that, I have a stripped header stud to deal with too, tried stud extractor, too bulky.... tried the 2 nut set up, not enough thread..... now I need a mobile welder to weld me a nut on so I can take a socket to it, but all your advice made sense because if I turn the kill switch so everything is off there’s no noise at all so fingers crossed your advice will work 👍

And do it with bike on centre stand so carbs all fill to proper fuel level
