Replacement Rear Shock

(1/1)

hawkesi:
I just did my full bike test last September and in November bought a 2008 FZ6.  I know from the history that the rear shock was replaced with an aftermarket one that lowered the seat height (for a previous lady rider).  As a result, the bike will not easily go on it's centre stand.

I want to put an original or other aftermarket shock on to return it to the normal ride height.

Any suggestions which shock and where to buy?

Cheers.  :D

If you're just after a used OEM one, there are plenty to pick from on ebay, starting from around £60.

The cheapest way to lower the seat height is to but a replacement piston rod end like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-FZ6-Fazer-S2-RJ14-2007-MFW-Lowering-Kit-Drop-35mm-/200821363647?clk_rvr_id=1443709042634&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=twenga&utm_campaign=twenga&utm_param=eyJlcyI6MCwicyI6OTcyMDIzNywiY2kiOiIwMzcxMmEzZGE0Y2E4OTQxODllNTJkMjQxZjcyMDE3YyIsImkiOiIyMDA4MjEzNjM2NDciLCJ0cyI6MTUxODg4NzE5MywidiI6Mywic28iOjE1MDAsImMiOjk2MzgyfQ%3D%3D&rmvSB=true. Im guessing its a lot cheaper than a new shock. Id double check to make sure that the bike been lowered using one of these. If it has, you just need the OM part to screw back on the shock to return to standard height

It was definitely a new aftermarket shock. I had the invoice handed over when I bought the bike. The garage that did the work is local and they confirmed it lowered it substantially.

What shock is on it and does it have ride height adjustment?
