Fazer 600 s2 2007 not firing
« on: 28 January 2018, 10:05:16 am »
Took the bike out other week wasn’t running right (low power) Cut out a couple of times. EML light came on and bike cut out. Turns over but will not fire. Got fault codes 12, 30 and 34. I’ve bypassed the tip over sensor to no joy. I’ve replac d the crankshaft sensors still no joy. Any ideas? Many thanks

Fault code 34 is faulty ignition coil for number 2 and 3 cylinders, however it could be dodgy wiring going into the ECU or the ECU is failing (seems unlikely, though if it's a 2007 bike).

12 is crankshaft sensor: possible causes; faulty wiring or wiring connector; damaged or improperly installed sensor or timing rotor; faulty ECU

30 is Tip over sensor: possible causes; machine overturned; damaged or improperly istalled sensor; faulty ECU

34 is ignition coil nos 2 and 3 cylinders-engine may run dpending are how many cylinders are affected; possible causes; faulty primary wiring or wiring connector; damaged ingnition coil; faulty componenet in ignition cut off safety circuit; faulty ECU

When you say it wasnt running right, was it just firing on 2 cyl or was it just restricting across all 4?

According to the diagnostic date, the tip over sensor needs to read between 0.4 and 1.4 volts when upright, so im not sure bypassing it is a sound test of its functioning. You also need to check the coils for cracks etc, check the resistance of the plug caps, and the coil primary and secondary circuits

Advice to access the system still has problems, then we still have questions.

It seems the common denominator reading all of the above comments about the three faults is ECU.

So glad the old FZS 600 does not seem have these problems, older technology I know but more bullet proof.

Have to ask, why and how exactly did you bypass the lean angle (tip Over) sensor? :eek This is a hall effect IC and "bypassing it" may damage the ECU
