Ceiling Light Shade Removal Question

(1/9) > >>

YamFazFan:
Any info here would be much appreciated.

Does anyone know how you remove the shade from the type of ceiling light in the photo please?.

There's no outer shade fixings at all and no evidence of their ever having been any (no screw holes etc..)

The shade will rotate endlessly both clockwise and anticlockwise without coming off.

Both base and shade are plastic.

Thanking you kindly :)

Well that's got me thinking!

1. try turning the white part anticlockwise but this time with downward pressure, it may need to catch on the thread.
2. Do the same again only in the opposite direction.
3. stick a screwdriver in between the black and white sections and gently try to lever off.
4. Do the same as no 3 again but this time have 2 screwdrivers- on at 3 and one a 9 o clock.
5. try any or all of the above to the black section in case it's like a 'sealed unit' with a lid.
6. Take a hammer to the foccer and buy a new light fitting.

If the black base is plastic it should lever off but use a electrically insulated screwdriver and isolate the light first  :eek :eek :rollin
Mark :)
