Engine scrap value?
« on: 08 December 2017, 06:57:29 am »
Hi all,

I have an old fazer 600 donor engine sat outside.

It's knackered top and bottom, rusty, has no bits of value, is in 4 parts and obviously drained of all fluids.

Is it worth weighing in at a scrap metal merchants? What's it worth? Or do I just dump it at my council waste site?

I guess it depends which is nearer.
When I scrapped a knackered Fiat Uno a few years ago I was handed £1.61 for the value of the metal!
If the cases are stripped bare and you can offer the dealer separate piles of aluminium and steel then you might get a few quid.

Use it as a winter project to make something interesting, i know its not a V8 but something like the Top Gear coffee table comes to mind. Gotta be better than throwing it away?

Yep...scrap not worth much now , I do like the furniture idea though , chair maker by trade but do a bit of everything , as the piccies, a V engine works well as a table as it has inbuilt supports for the top , bit harder to do with an inline , could probably work if tilted at 45 degrees but I dont think it would work so well in black and painting it silver it wouldn't look like a fazer engine....be an interesting project for the winter and much better than throwing it away...
One, is never going to be enough.....
