keep thinking of buying a new bike but made that mistake buying the tracer which went after 6 months so im thinking maybe spend a few quid on the fazer instead.what year r1 do you need for the folks?and what eles  could you do to improve the old girl?

Decent tyres first
Suspension Set up
Drop forks through yokes by 12mm (Adjust to suit)
Fit R6 shock (best mod for little cash) http://thewolftamer71.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08/fz1-mod-rear-suspension-upgrade.html
Renthal 758 bars (makes quite a difference)
R1 front  https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/fazer1000/r1-fork-conversion-guide-t3408.html#.V0P0lY-cHIU
Full monty, Ivanised carbs

As for improving cosmetically

Modified tail
Levers
Rear sets
Bar end mirrors so you can see behind you :-)

I've already done most of those mods to my fazer apart from the R1 front end.the tracer was great very light and great fun to ride but I found the seating position was too upright and was killing my cox's bone after an hour and a bit down on power.
