glove sizes!!!
« on: 11 November 2017, 06:57:44 pm »
why is it that you can never get what you want/need. just bought a pr of winter gloves size 4xl and they fit the same as a 2xl.I've got 3 gloves 1 ,2xl by Richa and 2 at 3xl and believe it or not the 2xl is slightly larger than the 3xl. the 4xl feels the same size as 2xl.wtf is going on .having gloves that are bigger than your hands help to keep your fingers warm without having to resort to heated gloves etc.with having gloves bigger help in keeping the wind off your finger and help blood circulation. I had a pr years ago and they were brilliant. but these days sizes are all over the place.grrrrrrrrr

I brought a pair of Alpine stars in Medium as I am a "perfect medium" everywhere else and had to change them for a Large. Glove sizes are stupid. I did even try on the medium and thought they were a little tight but convinced myself that they would "give" but glad I changed for a large, summer glove.
My winter gloves are by Racer and they are even bigger at XL !!!! there is no way I am XL but they are a perfect fit.
Just like helmets - you just got to try them on.

I've had a similar thing with alpinestars. I'm a xxl in all gloves but I bought some Alpinestars Smx v2s and had to exchange then for an xl as all the fingers were too long. A few weeks later I had to return them again as the colour all run when they got wet ( not the kind of quality I expected ) and the company went off my original order and sent me xxls again. This time they fit great except the thumb is slightly too short? I expect they kind of crap from a £20 eBay pair but they were the best part of £100 for some summer gloves so I thought I'd get some level of quality.

The problem is where they are made and the poor quality control. I bought my Alpinestars leather jacket from Hein Gerick shop in Leeds so it wasn't a cheap ebay knockoff and where was it made? Pakistan! I never noticed that until I was cleaning it a few months later.
I find that is not just bike gear, all clothing seems to be the same, I have different jeans that all fit me properly that range in label size from 34" to 38".

3xl some time 2xl are ok for summer but I want a pr of gloves so the sides dont touch my fingers for winter.
I had a pr years ago that were big and my fingers were not freezing or cold as you would get with wearing tight'sh gloves.
its the wind that does it.
we were out today and it was freezing so we just did a short run 67 miles in all.
I notice that if I pull my gloves down a bit my fingers started to feel a little warmer with haver more space etc.
I dont want to butcher my grips to fit h/warmers nor do I want wires in my coat as you get with gerbing.[/size]

some one need to grow up :rolleyes
my hand measure is 240mm so I dont think my hands are that big.
they all fit me but I want one that is bigger so my fingers can move around inside .
last pair I had that was oversized I never got cold fingers.
so far 3xl,4xl and 5xl are the same as fitment goes.
it seem to me they just stick bigger labels etc but gloves are actual size 3xl.

I had exactly the same experience with Alpinestar gloves & also with their boots. I did wonder if the people who make them have Donald Trump sized hands?

Good idea posting the hand size chart, but don't forget that most manufacturers have their own glove size chart which may, in some cases, disagree with one another. Hence an M in one make is an L in another etc.

Yeah mine are a 9" circumference so accroding to that chart im only a L but every pair of gloves I own is an xxl so couldn't go off that

Cheers for that fella, I feel better now. Never bought gloves online, always buy in shop so thought it was wrist to finger tip.

I looked at that chart without reading what it actually said and thought is this a hand chart for people or polar bears, then read the word circumference.
Mine is 23cm or 230mm so that make me large.
The Mrs was looking over my shoulder as I typed that and she is now on the floor now crying with laughter, she knows how to make a guy feel good about himself. She said your not meant to measure up one side over the top and down the other side,  :'( Bitch

So technically you're a size Large, but you've bought 5XL before???
WTF, i know you say you like them a bit bigger but that ain't right, they must feel horrible to wear?

the idea for them to be bigger at the fingers is so my fingers dont  get cold.
if fingers are snug fit the wind chill goes through and onto my fingers.
I dont ride enough in winter to warrant buying heated gloves.

Back to the heated grips again, you'll love 'em, and only around £25 for the ones i've got right now and they're as toasty as......erm......toast.
Great in the rain, as well as cold.

Went to the NEC yesterday and spent some time on the Gerbing stand having a play.. The size chart made me an L, but on gripping a pair of handlebars the "bridge" between my thumb and first finger was far too tight thus putting me in the XL camp. The XRS12 was the model I was interested in but didn't buy as only a meagre discount was offered and came nowhere near the price that Sports Bike Shop were selling them at a few months ago. At least I know I'm a Gerbing XL for the future :lol .

Got a Black Friday internet deal on the XRS12's  £121.60 as opposed to £159.99. Happy with that. :)

I was at the NEC on Thursday looking for some Kriega luggage. The bloke running the Kriega stand was more interested in texting than he was in me. I asked about show deals and he ignored me so I walked away. I bought the Kriega luggage I was after on Friday. Black Friday deal at MCA Leicester was £130 instead of £182 and free delivery too.  :lol
I could change my opinion, but then we'd both be wrong.
