So showing my mrs the fzs600 she's wondering how comfy it is on the back. As she's wanting to come out with me now and again. How many of you have been on the back or had your mrs on the back. Did they have any complaint about comfort or anything ?


Any reviews or opinions from your other halfs welcome

Only bit of advice I can offer don't act the t**t with her on the back, we used to go all over on the bike till I acted the t**t on a ZZR 1100 that's the last time she's been on pillion that was about 10 years ago.

Yeah first thing she said haha. She's more concerned about her back. I'm thinking if we do go somewhere far then quite a few stops for stretches and brews. More local rides to start with I think

Surely your thinking about that wrong? Youve had 10 years of peacful riding...... thats the dream right there haha
I took the million seat and pegs off my bike and reguarly mention how fastci ride to my other half. She wouldn't come near my bike with a barge pole 😁

You can get rubber mesh to put on the pillion seat that makes life easier for the pair of you.
They don't slide about at all so can make a big difference.
They're cheap enough on Ebay.

When she first went any distance on the back of the Fazer, the OH complained that she was sliding about during braking, acceleration and cornering, so I fitted a Triboseat (about £13) and it apparently makes a big difference to her comfort. The furthest we've done 2 up so far is 60 miles or so and we haven't ridden with luggage yet, so I don't really know how that'll go but so far she's relatively happy. She still hasn't really forgiven me yet for selling the BMW, or the ZZR1100 before that.

I used to take passengers quite a lot years ago, just people wanting to go for a spin, plus the missus quite regularly, and it stops them sliding about and nutting the back of your lid when you brake.
I noticed a great difference after i first put it on.
Can't recommend it enough.

The grip will help with the sliding on the seat. Looking at other bikes she likes the bonneville style seat

Most pillion seats are higher?
It's a balance thing and works just fine.
The Triboseat cover is invaluable as far as i'm concerned, it's a bonus for both parties.

In my experience the Fazer pillion seat is a lot better than many. Fairly wide and padded with foot pegs not too high. How women cling on to the back of most sports bikes, I do not know!

I toured with my wife as pillion in July on the 600, journey was Cork, Rosslare, Ferry to France Cherbourg, Ducey (stayed 4 nights), Albert (Stayed 2 Nights), Maastricht (stayed 4 Nights). The return trip was in 660 miles 24 hours Maastricht, Calais, Ferry, Dover, Pembroke, Ferry, Rosslare,and back to Cork.

No comfort issues of any sort just a great holiday, my wife is a regular traveler and enjoys it. Rear Suspension was jacked up a little to cater for the extra weight of the full Panniers.

First thing I did with my missus is warn her about the hot exhaust, tell her to keep her feet up at all times and keep her shoulders exactly in line with yours. If you lean, she leans, go with it, relax and don't fight the leaning around corners (like one of my mates does!!).


Get her to rest her chin on your shoulder to stop headbutting under braking, just keep her body against yours to prevent sliding .


oh and tell her she has to stay awake. My missus has a habit of falling asleep at motorway speeds! 


Just build up the distances and you really don't need to go mental for her to have an exciting ride.

...and if she does slide down the seat, tell her to slide her arse back as one. My missus shuffles and 'walks' her arse back up the seat which results in a big wobble usually on approach to a junction.
