Carb help
« on: 20 August 2017, 09:38:48 pm »
Stripping carburetor down as my bike only seemed to be firing on the right 2 cylinders. while taking it apart I've noticed a right angled fitting with a gauze filter on the top of the carb facing to the rear. No pipe appears to be fitted to this part. My haynes and owners service manual say nothing about this part, so was wondering if i could get any help from you guys!

Hi, there should be a pipe coming from the air/filter box between the inlets 1&2, this connects to the carburetor net filter shown in your picture.  Smile

excelent! I'll have a look for it. It wasn't connected when i took it out and carb 1 & 2 have somehow got water in them :/ Carb cleaner has luckily solved the mess.

I guess it wasn't put together properly last time, and while its been on its side stand for 3 years.... (just got it, prev owner not used it for 3 years) guess water has somehow got in and moved the carb 1 & 2 (being the carbs that are above the stand)

Hopefully she will be happy when i put it back together :)

Are you sure? Mine just sits there in free air, there is no link to the airbox.

^that's what I was thinking but not sure.

The engine breather hole goes to the airbox

I can't remember anything connecting to that 'filtet' on the top of the carbs?!

I'm going to go and look at mine...
