track day tyres
« on: 05 July 2017, 10:04:50 pm »
hey guys.

thinking about a track day (novice only brands hatch in august) atm i have new set of bridgestone t30 evo's fitted to my fzs600,
my question is can i ride the 70miles to brands, spend the day learning the track, have some fun, and ride home again on the same tyres ?

or will the tyres be done for?

sorry for the novice question but really dont know how tyres last on track for a first timer

PS i have reasonable experience on road and ride hard at times and my tyres usually last around 7000 (t30 evo)

Your T30's will be fine. I would drop the pressures down to about 30 psi front and rear cos their going to  get hot and sticky.
May feel a bit different at first for the first few laps but once they get up to temperature and you start to increase speed and lean angles.....well, you'll see.  :)

They'll be fine, I wouldn't sweat it. Just pump them up to  your normal running pressures when cold and enjoy the rest of the summer's riding.

If it's a dry day, what you will find is blobs of rubber stuck to your road tyres, shed from the track day bikes!
