Power Commander, ECU remap or 2010 onwards bike
« on: 19 June 2017, 04:20:18 pm »

I am looking to buy an FZ1 Fazer, 08 onwards, to replace my well served ZX9R which I had for 12 yrs.
I have read reviews and it appears there was a fuelling issue which may have improved on 2010 models. Is this the case? Would a pre 2010 model with a Power commander or ECU remap be better or is the 2010 version onwards  OK?
I have contacted Yamaha UK who were not very helpful and would not pass on information of the engine serial number onwards which would have had an official remap. I don’t want to get a late registered model which does not have the official remap.
Any help would be appreciated.
With thanks,

Hi and welcome.

I would imagine that if you purchased a bike your local Yamaha dealer would be able to check the ECU for you and confirm whether or not it required updating.

To be honest the fueling issues were exaggerated. It only really affects the 2006 model. I have a 2007 and was perfectly fine. I've fitted a power commander now but that was due to modifications
