Motorcyclists matter petition
« on: 21 March 2012, 12:50:36 am »
Not sure if this has been posted but found it today. It's a petition to get motorcycle awareness questions made mandatory on theory tests for new drivers. Probably won't stop you getting hit by a pimped up nova but it all helps.

I took a car theory test this morning and had 2 questions about motorcyclists:

1. Why would a motorcyclist be seen to swerve around manhole covers in wet conditions?
2. A motorcyclist is laying in the road after an accident - why should you not remove her helmet?

There could have been more motorcycle awareness questions and the wording could have been better - the other candidates in the room now think that all motorcyclists do is swerve around and fall off!!

Great idea, will sign the petition. I personally think ALL new drivers should be required to take a CBT before even getting in a car so the appreciation for vulnerable road users is learnt right from the start.

But then I've always been a bolshy git!

I did my car theory a few days ago - only one question on bikes (when stopped at a junction for a while, watch out for... horses?!?). There also bikes in the Hazard Perception - but the clips for car & bike are the same, and I suspect most clips were shot from a bike too.
