After Motad
« on: 24 April 2017, 08:33:17 pm »
Now Motad has gone bust what are the decent options for a new exhaust. My Foxeye's is rusted to f**k,but reading through the relevant threads, all the other makes seem a bit ropey.Does anybody have any positive experiences with the other makes?

Don't think Fuel make downpipes. Pity as their end cans are great. I've had mine 12 years and looks like new.

Another vote here for Delkevic - mine had the downpipes and stubby can fitted when I bought it, cant fault them. Had a Fuel silencer on my old CB500, another really well made bit of kit. Think I read somewhere that Black Widow downpipes have a tighter bend in them, and it makes getting the oil filter off difficult, but I could be mistaken

+1 for Delkevic. Mine had a full system on when i bought it, hadn't been on that long so can't comment on longevity but cleans up nice and makes a great sound. Only issue is that the K&N oilf filter bought for last oil change (with the moulding for a socket on the end) is just too big to get in without taking off the headers first (which I couldn't be arsed with, just used a regular filter). Course, this could also be true for other headers...

Thanks for the replies, but after closer inspection,I've decided to refurb the originals, cos the consensus seems to be that they're still the best option.

Those with Delkevic pipes do they actually have the balance pipe between 1-2 and 3-4 cylinder, like they show in the picture on the bay of e?

Having said on another thread about how my originals were fine after a weld and paint, they are now off and stripped back for painting  again only to reveal many holes in the collector.  :'( suppose i tempted fate.
