Starting up for Spring, or not!
« on: 22 March 2017, 02:45:56 pm »
Hi all, had the Fazer off road over winter, indoors at work, so dry. Did my usual winter strip down and done maintanence as required, put the whole thing back together and it won't start. All lights work, the battery is a year old and has been on an Oxford optimiser, when I press the starter button, nothing, no sound, no clicking, the neutral light stays nice and bright. The engine kill switch works as I can hear a relay clicking when I try that switch. I have had the rear mudguard out so I could clean the rear end properly. Much use of GT85.

Any thoughts please?

Sorted, it was filthy contacts in the starter motor relay connector, pulled out the white plug and the contacts were all green, cleaned them up and she fired up. Just waiting for dry roads now, got new tyres that need scrubbing in :-)

might as well get her out and give her a average run in the not perfect weather to scrub them in
nothing wrong with warming up now instead of going out and getting too hot too quick
an entire wing in lancaster hospital last time i was there was a testiment to too hot to quick
-8 of us on one wing only 4 due to other parties, 2 riders and 1 pillion from one bad driver, 1 due to a rogue sheep.
ride safe brothers - know your limits (and push a little to learn)
