It's here, and it's glorious!
« on: 20 March 2017, 05:46:11 pm »
Hello everyone,

My names Shamen and I'm 23, Norfolk area, Engineer.

Picked up a '99 fzs600 a couple weeks ago, she's red and carries full luggage.  :lol I decided to postpone  the introduction/ joining the forum until i'd done a couple thousand to be sure I was going to keep the thing (I'm very picky when it comes to bikes... :rolleyes  13 in the past few years, all sizes, many genres).

This is me downsizing from my recent trio of st1100 (sold), '07 ZZR1400 (selling soon) and '86 z550 LTD (for sale). It's looking like she'll be my only bike for my sole source of transport for the near future.

So far I have to say, I'm very happy, I'd forgotten how much fun smaller IL4's can be... actually being able to use the available power. It's so light, manageable, easy to live with.

So far the only mod's  I've done is the 12mm Nut/ washer kit and a +1 tooth front sprocket. Just because i'm so used to turning lower rpm at 60-70. I've also modified an unknown brand exhaust.... existing baffle was too quiet, removing it was too....  :eek  'lets say obnoxious' . So I found the trick to enabling a happy compromise, without changing the nice sound was to keep the exhaust outlet unobstructed, whilst adding a baffle tube within the exhaust it'self to quiet down the high rpm sound.

I have a few idea's for future mods/ trinkets down the line.

Also very happy to find there's a pretty decent looking owners club on here!

Looking forward to getting to know people over time!

Thanks, Shamen.

ps.. owe i forgot to ask, does anyone on here have much experience with the Renthal Ultra Low bars? i think the 758's? I noticed today my bars are ever so slightly bent and it's now something that'll bug me to no end.

The Past: RXS100, '82 CBX550, CBR600, CB250/400, NTV600, ST1100, ZZR1400, Trophy1200, VFR800vtec, Another ST1100. The Present: '99 FZS600, Z550ltd

Welcome

ZZR1400 to a FZS600  :eek , you miss a fair bit of power there i'd imagine. As you say the 600 has its upsides tough and is a very forgiving bike.

I have 758's on my thou, unfortunately they are very new and now miles covered yet. my 600 bars I believe are slightly bent too, i will probably look to go 758 if the others work out well.

Hi Skippin, welcome to the Forum.

I'm guessing you must be extremely rich 😀 - insuring a ZZR1400 and a ST1100 at 23 and younger !!

Expect to see a load of mods to your 600, but lets have some photo's of it now, before you start.
