Standard silencers.
« on: 17 March 2017, 04:37:19 pm »
Is it still possible to buy a standard silencer any more?
I'd be surprised if Yamaha still do them, and if they do they'd charge a fortune.
I know there are hundreds of aftermarket ones available, but does anyone make a direct OEM replacement that wouldn't be classed as a modification?
The usual searches have come up with nothing but Scorpions, Fuels, Vipers etc.

It's more out of curiosity really, there are so many aftermarket ones out there that I wondered if there were any originals available. I know there are used ones around but I was curious about getting a new one.

Yeah,  but wonder if they ever sold one at that price, You'd end up chopping the bike in to pay for it!!!

Quite fancy one ( not at that price ) as my bike is almost 20 years old and just about original and I almost want to keep it concourse ( is that the correct phrase ) its not the can I need its the down pipes.
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

if your replacing the downpipes there is nothing wrong with going aftermarket stainless for usability - concours is the right word but we are talking 17-19 year old hi-number survivor bikes here so by the time they are show bikes any exhaust bought today will be ruined anyway
we have classic cars here and i can tell you now concours owners are a league of there own
if you have a 1950 BSA B33 i will push you to go concours where possible, but a fzs is never worth the money at the moment
