Green Plating?
« on: 15 March 2017, 09:04:02 pm »
Here's one you all you clever foccers out there. Does anybody know what electroplating Yamaha use on there nuts, bolts, pipes, clips etc? If anyone does know, do they also know who can replicate it? The closest I've seen is olive drab passivated zinc but I don't think it is. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Closet fit is Moss, as it the real growing stuff.

Can I ask why? Are you trying to do a restore?  I actively replaced as much green cheese fasteners with stainless as I could.

Hi Alan, it's partly just cos I'm curious to know what it is but the condition of the bike is such that if I could sort the plating out, it would be close to mint. I understand what you mean about stainless but things like the coolant pipes, spindles and brackets etc. are unavailable or prohibitively expensive and by reproducing the finish it keeps the bike looking standard. I've called round various plating companies who seem unable to help.
