Simple question, any recommendations for brighter headlight bulbs for a 2010 FZ6 Fazer?

Okay, perhaps I should have been very specific. Are there any specific make/model of bulbs that people have used and would recommend?

I switched to Osram Nightbreakers a few years back and found them very effective.

Doing a good deal on amazon on these just now.

This has brought up a few other questions. What is the difference brtween H7 and H4 and do I need both?

What is the max wattage I can fit?

Am I able to make both headlights dipped and both switch on as main beam?

H7 is the dip on the LHS   H4 only uses the main beam on the right Dip beam produces a Dip to right beam fro Drive on right !

Me I gave up with Better bulbs used HID kit in the H7  and just done a H4 HID conversion for main beam (watch out many only up rate the Dip !
Both light need alining after conversion both came down a bit

If you don't run heated grips / clothing you can put an off road use 100/160 w in the main beam   I did fro a time very good

The H4 part has confused me a little. Are you saying that if in countries that drive on the right that the H4 is wired differently and only uses dip on the right with the left side not functioning on dip?

I have just had a thought, is it possible to rewire so that both sides are able to be dipped and main beam?

If you power up the Right headlight the H4 bulb on dip and look at the beam pattern it is a Z dip to the right! for drive on the right NOT UK Drive on the left !
Beam dips but kicks up to the right  MOT fail and a possiable nick fro dazzling on coming !

Both me light are now 35W HID  both needed re alining
I do not and will not unless going to a Drive on right contery use the RHS headlight as a dip !

The duel Headlight mod on My FZ6 produces produces a NON  MOT leagal beam pattern with a kick up on the right as well as the left !
The right hand reflector is fro Drive on right  markets only !
MOT fail and possiable ticket fro dazzeling on comeing

Dip is hard to upgrade without using HID or very Good LED  as H7 is hard to find over 55W

Main is easy if you don't use heater grips or clothing just fit a off road 100/160W H4 really great main beam about the same as I get from A 35W HID

I have just put some Philips Extreme Vision into mine. They've not made much difference. The verge gets most of the light. Does anyone else find this? Or do I need to get the alignment checked? The Main beam doesn't do much (upgraded bulb) but light up stuff on the right hand side of the road above the height of traffic.

Can anyone recommend some LED side lights? I've tried a couple of brands now. The left side dies within minutes. As far as I know the LEDs have resistors built in to them.

Sounds like you do need to check the alignment.

I did mine by finding an unlit lane with a *long* straight section (so plenty of time to see other traffic!) then tweaking the adjustment screws until I got the beam-spread I liked.

NB Don't take too long over it. When the engine is ticking over, you're not re-charging the battery, so, when you're doing the beam, you're going to be running it down and might end up having a flat battery!

Yes Grahamm
Neither of mine were great with normal bulbs I swaped to HID and both needed lots of adjustment !  Most of the problems with HID kit is not doing the adjustment  and I think most other head lamp problems come down to adjustment it is not easy if fact it a Pain  but once done light are very good FZ6 reflectors are very good

The HID idea is bouncing around my brain. I'm waiting for the dipped bulb to blow before I take the jump. I'm a bit worried about how they would fit and the glare.

Can anyone suggest a guide to follow so I can adjust my lights? I have no idea how to set them up so that I'm not blinding other road users. Or competing with the stars.

Many thanks!

Tow options

After dark  find a road with little or no traffic
You need a 10m socket up down adjustment
and an 8mm socket left right
Adjust so the cut of is 10m in front of the bike and the LHS rise goes along the curb / hedge when the bike in in a nornal riding possision you on it and upright

Other option go to a good MOT centre or workshop who will have  a set up to do it in daytime
