Fuel tank compatibility
« on: 27 July 2016, 08:31:07 am »
I'm needing to change the fuel tank on my 2000 fzs600.

But which tank from other years actually fit ? With what modifications?

I'm not bothered about the tanks fuel capacity as long as it fits, the undertank pipework is adaptable and the fuel gauge works something like. I've searched for a list of compatible tanks but couldn't find one !!

Any ideas anyone ?

All FZS600 tanks fit with no modification.

They all fit without mods but there are differences.

98/99 18 litre

00/01 20 litre

02/03 22 litre, but different shape to the others

I have just found this out because I won a Bagster tank cover on Ebay then it dawned on me that 02/03 covers were listed separately to 98/01 covers.  :'(

Not sure what to do yet, whether to sell it on or upgrade to the bigger different shape tank so I can still use it?
Problem is finding a tank in good condition.

Lo and behold, it's literally just been handed to me at work as I'm writing this.  :lol

You can squeeze 20lt (probably more if its empty to start with) in with slow filling the tank up.
The tank is the same on all the early bikes with just a different length filler tube.
