It might be the wake up call the game needs to get some respect into the game. You only have to watch a premiership game on the TV and you will see how spoilt the players are thinking they can get away with anything on the pitch. This cascades down to the supporters and we get the mayhem.IIRC, years ago, it was a gentleman's game and the players were well behaved on the pitch.
