My Centrestand Refurb

Well as per my last few posts I need to repaint my centre stand which I have started today, I have been putting it off as I would rather be riding it but so not wanting to give myself extra work I have also not been plastering it with ACF50, so I have been promising myself that the next thing I do before I ride again would be to re paint it.
Here are some pics with it in place and the last one with it off.
It isnt that bad but needs doing before it gets worse

A good de-rust and an undercoat and then a top coat on the stand today, There was an "incident" however with the rubber stopper, I read here just the other day about people loosing them so I though that it would be best to not move it and risk damaging it, I caught it with the bench grinder wire brush and sent it flinging up the garden  . It had ripped it off (see picture) so now I will have to re attach with a bolt    
The bit of tape on the right is where I hung my nuts ------ and bolts after first taping over the shaft part that will eventually be metal to metal with grease lube

Looking good, sure makes a difference once it's all shiney
 just watch though when you first use it to lift the bike, putting your foot on a newly painted bit of metal can just slip off

Guess you'll be doing the side stand too once this is back on the bike, might be best doing that in situ as the side stand spring is a foccer to get back on

Got tip with the foot.
I have already done the side stand by removing it and -- oh yes I know all about the spring, luckily in my tool box I have a big bag of swear words which were perfect to help get it all back on, I couldnt of done it without them.

I keep thinking I should do mine but it would just make the rest of the bike look terrible

My next stage is to spray ACF50 into the gaps to coat the inside where possible to prevent any rusting from the inside as per picture

I have now repaired the rubber stopper with a stainless steel machine screw and nylo nut. There is already a hole in the stopper that gos 3/4 the way down so I just had to drill it all the way through and the widen the top half the take the screw head so it was below the surface.
Also because the screw is m6 ( I think) and the hole in the stand is much bigger I first dropped in a stainless split washer as that was the only thing that would both fit within the hole and go over the screw shaft this then acted as a step down spacer so the stopper wont have any chance of moving side to side.

All that great work, seems a shame you've got to put it on the bike to get dirty again
