Good point.

Perhaps this version of the forums will allow it to be taken away from children who think that trolling is big and clever without stopping everyone else from being able to edit their posts sensibly.

Advocating removal of someones liberties?

Repeat after me: With Rights come Responsibilities.

Of course "With Trolls come Bans" may be easier to understand.

Smurf :rollin

Short answer: soon after Smurf release the 'Gold' version of SMF 2.0. I do not know when this will be but my best guess - and it is an ill-informed guess - is sometime in March. Having said that it may be released tonight or next year for all I know.

Slightly more techie answer: You know at the bottom it says "Powered by SMF 2.0 RC4"? Well RC4 stands for Release Candidate, which is a kind of advanced beta version. I don't want to go live on a beta version just in case.

I attempted to copy a sticky over. I was mostly done then when I hit preview it said that make sure you're connected tot he server bs. I then, without thinking refreshed the page and lost it all, rofl. I'll copy some over tommorow.

So we need a newer Smurf before we can go live? I see ;)

Also, what will happen to post counts/custom titles/join dates etc?

Andrew, do you have any more details of what happened, or can you reproduce it?

Tori, don't know yet. That information can be updated on SMF but it will be a big job to do everybody's. There may be a programming solution, but I do not have time to look into it so I'm hoping for a (very techie) volunteer.

Could someone follow the Calender link to events for "Whilst this is what appears in the Calender itself" and try to post a photie in my folder up in the Gallery rather than Frazer's Gatherings one please?
Cheers.

Magic, right where I hoped it would be.

Means that whomever starts an event thread can start an album for all the photies from it and everyone can upload to it.
Should be good to keep them all in the same place, means that Frazer can then move them into the Gatherings folder as a sub folder when he gets the chance, means we don't have to rely on him to generate all the wee folders for us.
 :)

I wonder if it means we could also limit who can post to attendees by using the limit functions too?
Need to have more plebs to try that out rather than you Mod types.
Off to set up a Scottish one to try it out...

The only way I can think of about moving post count, custom titles and join dates would be to edit folks profiles manually, 1 by 1.

Would be helluva job.

There may be screen scrape options out there; I'll have a look nearer the time.

Actually I'll add it to the How You Can Help forum under "Very techie" :)
