New kit.
« on: 28 April 2016, 09:36:49 pm »
Looking at getting new kit, my 7/8yrs old Hein Gericke stuff has seen better days. Being Scottish, I like to get my money's worth :lol

Looking at this http://wolf-moto.com/wolf-gt-s-titanium-textile-jacket.html has anyone had Wolf textile stuff before? What's the pros/cons of it?
Thanks in advance
Colin

I dunno about wolf stuff, but I've got a richa textile jacket I use for commuting and it's been great for the money (it was cheap at the time I remember)

My wife has a Richa textile waterproof jacket which cost us £100, she has worn it during all our touring since 2006 and never once got wet in it, despite some dire weather. Worst being a thunder storm with lighting bouncing off the road in front of us.
Even a scot could see the value in that; £10 a year  :lol

What happened to good old leather.
Could find a two piece suit for that price and far more protection in the event of an off.
Complete fabrication, I didn't make it up!

I prefer the leather also, probably old school, never been a fan of the textile stuff, but my wife is very happy with it.

Read some articles on testing textiles and even the most expensive suits didn't hold together
Moral of this is, if your going to fall over better to have a old cow to land on...

I've never been a fan of leather, was given a one piece when I first started biking and tbh was ok but just not for me. I personally think there great for the track but just not for me.

Was also looking at Spada stuff, this caught my eye :) http://www.spadaclothing.co.uk/productdetail.php?subcat=8&cat=2&product=3148
Think I can get the whole kit for the price of just the Wolf jacket and the Spada trousers have an ingenius way of taking up the leg length for short arsed guys like me :thumbup but then, Wolf trousers come in short leg too so decisions decisions :(

Ventilation I admit is an issue but a cheap over suit takes care of wet weather riding.
I'm old school, want to be comfortable, get a car
That's not aimed at you

My son has a wolf jacket and thinks it's great has the lining to keep you warm when cold outside and vies versa, the ventilation is very good also. 95% of the time even if it cold weather riding (below 5*) he only has a tee shirt on.

Just to throw another brand in there, I've found Furygan stuff to be very comfy and good quality so far.

Had a look today at....
Wolf, really light and good fitting too.
RST, seam to be made by same people as the Wolf people but a wee bit heavier.
Spada, heavier but well made all the same.
Richa, don't really like it personally.
Furygan, couldn't see any.
Rukka, didnt even bother to look!
So need to wait till new stuff arrives from Wolf as the stuff 8n shops is last year's kit and apparently they've revamped the kit.
Only dealers in Glasgow area are Victor Devine (who won't get my money as they screwed me over a few bikes back when I bought a CBR600 from them) but it's closer to me to go and try the kit on. And the other place is Firecrest out in the East end but I never knew they were there nevermind dealt with them so I'll need to research their feedback me thinks :)
All food for thought I guess.

Yes they're back there mate, inbetween Ducatti & J&S

Been in there too Mick, sales guy was an absolute twat, didn't know what he was talking about
Q.Hello, has this got goretex?
A. I'll need to check
Q.does it comes with a gaurantee?
A. I'll need to check.
Q.Do you have trousers to match?
A. I think so
Q. Is this jacket waterproof?
A. Don't know
Q. Do you think I should buy from you?
A. On a postcard please :)

As original post said i've got HG stuff already and has lasted me well, but another notable point is I reckon since grey closed down and reopened I don't think the quality is the same plus it's fairly heavy in weight and price in regards to others.

Was in J&S too, Gary is a top man and knows his stuff (and used to work for HG) unfortunately J&S seam to sell last year's lines or even older.

Your probably right but there's no shops up here that I'm aware of that sells them.
I really like to go and feel the quality, try them on etc etc
