Universal speedometer, speed drive/sensor
« on: 24 April 2016, 01:08:01 pm »
Hello!
First of all, sorry for my bad english, Im a norwegian..

I wanted a more streetfighter look on my 98 fazer so I did take off the front light and found out that I coudn't use the original speedometer on the bike after because its so big!

So I ordered one off ebay, cut off the wires and wired it up!
Its works fine but I don't want to use the speed sensor that came with it.
I want to use the original, but on the bike its a 3 wire drive and on the speedometer its 2 wire.
And, on the cables going to the original speedometer only to of them is for the speedometer signal, I tryed to wire them up but did not get any signal.

Somebody tried this before, and got It working ?

where in norway are u from?

I also want to change the instruments on mine since i also have a "streetfighter" look. the previous owned just adjusted the angle of the instruments so theyr more flat.
and the needle on the speedo and rpm stick quite far out, so i cant really tell what speed i driving, when the needle is above 60kmt im driving around 45-50kmt.
i will eventually get used to it, but i really like it when everything is correct.
