Back protector.
« on: 07 April 2016, 08:33:55 pm »
I always use a back protector and have had a few different Knox over the years but they have always been the type that you wear separately, with shoulder straps and and a strap round the waist.
I am looking to get one that will fit in the back of my Alpinestars leather jacket in the existing pocket, any recomendations welcome :)

I bought an Alpinestars Nucleon KR-21 Level 2 Back Protector Insert last August for £29-99. Better than the piece of foam that came with the Alpinestars jacket !

Forcefield ones are thicker than standard ones (which one would assume is better for protection) so if your jacket is already tight fitting take that into consideration as it'll be even tighter!

Just been looking at one of them, gone up in price they are about £33 now, but is looking like first choice already.
I use the original foam insert as pad to stop things rattling about in my car glove box, it is all it is fit for!

Yeah, I figure that if I can fit a separate back protector under my jacket already then no matter how thick a new insert is the jacket should still fit just right.

Found it - this is the one I have http://www.hein-gericke.nl/hein-gericke-hiprotecr-backshock-air-ruckenprotektor.html I think I found the forcefield made the jacket too tight and I found it heavy, I did a lot of reading up at the time and came to the conclusion that the hein gerick offered just as much protection, and miles better than the "glove box foam".
But I also use a separate lower back protector that fits like a kidney belt its the same as this but just the lower 3 sections on a belt

I've always like Forcefield.  I wear a separate one under my textiles.  Recent leather jacket was Dainese so got their own that fitted the insert, more of a plastic armour type.  Works ok, but for fields are thinner.

I have a D30 one in my Held Jacket. It is like this one but I did not buy it here
http://www.fc-moto.de/epages/fcm.sf/?ObjectPath=/Shops/10207048/Products/Held-D30-Back-Protector/SubProducts/Held-D30-Back-Protector-0002&Currency=GBP&Locale=en_GB&utm_source=Portalexport&utm_medium=GoogleShopping&utm_term=Held%20D30%20Back%20Protector&utm_campaign=GoogleShopping_GB
It molds around me very nicely as it gets warm and is very light.

There are good reviews on D30 kit but thankfully I have not tested mine properly yet.
