Paint recommendation for black engine finish.
« on: 23 February 2016, 09:38:15 pm »
Any suggestions would be appreciated for a suitable paint match to repair a couple of chips in the black engine finish.

Thanks.

On the RS website it says that no "basecoat" is required, however when I emailed them to check if that's correct, their reply was that an etching primer is necessary, so a bit confused at the moment. Anyone had any experience in using the RS products for minor repairs on the black engine.

Thanks.

you will need to use an etch primer so that the black engine colour will adhere to the bare aluminium

Thanks Fatbloke62. Logically I thought the etching primer would be necessary, but got thrown by the websites blurb. Oh well, more expense.
