Collected My Fazer 1000 off of Fazerblue this Morning
« on: 18 February 2016, 04:42:23 pm »
Moving on from my Wanted thread I managed to do a deal with John aka Fazerblue and collected the bike this morning.
Had a quick run round the block on it before money exchanged hands and engine was great but handling was awful but I put this down to Tyre pressures as it had been sitting for a while.
Collected it in a Van so wasnt too fussed and thought I'd sort the tyre pressures and give it a once over when I got home.

So having got back and unloaded it, I can honestly say it's a great looking bike considering it's age.

Only problem was on closer inspection, the reason for the poor handling was that one of the Fork Seals has blown.

So have now spent my afternoon taking the forks out the bike.

Local bike shop have ordered a genuine Yamaha set of fork seals and some freash oil for me so hopefully the parts will be in tomorrow and I can get the front end sorted and back together again  :thumbup

Gosh, you have got stuck straight in there!

Lovley bike, I'm sure you will enjoy it. You are right about the condition, if the photo's are anything to go by then it looks great.

Well I got the Forks Sorted today.

New genuine Yamaha Fork Seals and fresh fork oil.

Got them back in the bike, road tested and all sorted.

Also found some Blue Rim tape knocking around in the garage so got that stuck on the wheels. It's quite a nice colour match so bit of a result  8)

That's alright John, I should have looked a bit closer at the forks after running it round the block but I was a bit too keen to get it loaded into the van. Never mind these things happen and thankfully it was alot cheaper to sort out as I could whip the forks out myself and got my local Bike shop to strip and rebuild them for me as a cash job today.

At least it's all sorted now and rideable again.

Well hell you might as well go and replace all the cooling hoses, these ones are a bit pricey so an internet search might be in order -

Very nice but a bit out of my price range unfortunately.
I had a budget of £2350 which is what I got when I sold my Fireblade so with the purchase price of the bike, the rebuild on the forks, the Givi rack, brake lines, alloy levers and LED handguards that I've ordered thats the budget blown I'm afraid.......

It was the 929 RRY Robbo, the first of the Fuel injected bikes but it was well sorted with Ohlins springs in the front forks, Remap, BMC Filter, top yoke conversion, braided lines, etc.
Stunning bike but sadly after fracturing my spine last year I just couldnt spend more than half an hour on it without being in pain so it had to go sadly.

Oooh thats a nice bike.

I was interested in that bike as I'm looking for a fazer too, I want a black engine so put it lower down the pecking order and was making enquiries about other bikes when you got this.

I regret it now, sack the black engine this looks the dogs bollocks. I don't think fazerblue's pics did it justice!

Congrats and good to see your cracking on with stuff.

You want to sell it? lol, I'm serious too

Unfortunately had to send the first set of Braided hoses back to the Supplier due to poor quality and fitment.

So after waiting another week I now have a set of HEL lines instead.

Now all fitted and bled through

Got everything together to service the Bike and remove the AIS today.

So drained the coolant, removed the Rad and got the AIS out.

Then spent the next coupleof hours taping holes that where left after removing the AIS and putting it all back together.
Just got to check the coolant level again tomorrow and then put the belly pan and fairing inner panel back on and I'm done

All those headers bolts need replacing with steel ones.

It's surface rust and they are no worse than any others that I've seen. Even with the belly pan it's enevitable that they are going to get the brunt of any wet weather while riding.
