Mobile phones
« on: 02 March 2012, 02:08:55 pm »
I have the Samsung Galaxy S at the moment. Phone works well most of the time apart from teh occasional lock up which is probably more related to keeping it in my pocket. The problem is network coverage. I am with 3 and most of the time this is OK but I stay regularly at a hotel in Huntingdon where there is fec all signal on 3 (my phone) or Orange (works phone) so looking to move to O2 (vodafone on works dongle is crap too).
Should I just go for a SIM only contract and keep the Galaxy S or get a new phone?

Been looking at the Galaxy S2, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S but cant make up my mind. I do use the Wifi Hotspot thing for laptop/iPad access that the Android phones have so if iPhones dont do this, they are out of the mix. Any suggestions?

MD has an S2 - superb phone. I have a Desire which is a great phone, even if 'old' by today's standards :)

Bob, probably a stupid question, but will o2 work there if nothing else is?

GF, the Mrs has the S2 and it is a good phone.

Locksmith, yes, O2 appears when I do a network search unlike 3 and Orange.

Looks like the Galaxy S3 is out in a few weeks so may have to wait and see what deals are about then on the new model.

I have a motorola atrix which is a very powerful android based I phone clone - with orange so can't help but orange and t-mobile share towers now. My contract is a £35m a month one but they gave it to me for £20 plus Vat and free phone because I asked and I have been with them for ages. Having a contract for >£30 means free broadband from orange so broadband and mobile is £20 a month which is pretty bloody good if you ask me

ah bollix. The iPhone 4S won in the end. Just trying to get used to it now. Everyone says how good they are but there are standard features on the Androids which you cannot do on the iPhone.

I will see how I get on with it and maybe swap it with the wifes S2 later if I cannot get on with it.
