FZ1 footpeg spring
« on: 20 January 2016, 06:20:52 pm »
The spring in my left hand footpeg broke tonight so the peg just flops up and down now. I had a look and it seems that the peg is held in the bracket by a non removable fixing?

Any ideas if it's possible to replace the spring?

Easy , the pin is just a riveted end , disc grinder will do the job in seconds, carefully grind away the from the underside of the pin  , tap the pin out , get a new spring and just get a Cap head stainless Allen bolt and a lock nut. Add a drop of Locktite Blue and tighten it up until the peg will not overcome the tension of the new spring, back the nut off a tad until the spring tension is sufficient to over come the resistance so the peg will snap back. I fitted a lowering kit set of pegs to my FZ1 so I know this method will work .

I had to replace mine last year for the same reason. I bought a sping/footpeg set off Ebay and fit it handy enough.

Something like this

Cheers for the replies guys, problem I have is that I'd have to lay out for a grinder so I'm thinking it might be easier just to replace the footpeg complete with spring.

I'll see if anyone has one for sale.
