New to Fazers
« on: 16 December 2015, 12:09:09 pm »
Hello all, just to say a friendly hello. I have had my FZS1000
for a while now and have just started to fall in love with it. I have done 2 Euro trips so far and enjoyed both, since April putting 11k on the clocks. Not a great deal I know, but closing on 60 soon and with work commitments I'm quite happy. I knew the 2 previous owners so was very willing to buy the 2003 bike, its fairly standard except Yamaha crush bungs and a Blueflame throaty exhaust. It also has a Givi rack fitted, but with a bit of potching I've managed to fit my old Nonfango boxes to it to no ill effect. For a weeks tour fitting 52ltr topbox[left on bike] and 2 x 40litr sidecases, but a 2 week trip I use my 2 x 48ltr topboxes as sidecases along with my baglux tankbag. Well that's my short story so far, i'll try to enclose a pic below. TTFN, Tommy

Hi and welcome, don`t worry about approaching 60, plenty old ones on here. I hit 60 in 19 months, hoping to retire and get out on the bike more.

I passed 60 last August. It's nothing to worry about. 3 bikes including the Fazer. Commute to work each day, and 2 big European tours each year ......... as long as my knees hold out  :(

Brilliant bike, had to give mine up a couple of years ago, as a tad heavy for a 5'6" Grandma, but has a lovely home in Dorset and I have regular updates lol 8)  Finding the Fazer 8 a good compromise and no Exup! after having 5PW R1's for ten years and constant battle with Exup seizing as used all year in all weathers.
Still doing track days and been around Brands Hatch a few times this year and fulfilled a lifetime wish with an IAM Skills day at Thruxton. Have been around Oulton Park, Cadwell, Darley Moor in the past and well past 60, started on a Sports Cub after a brief fling with an Ariel Leader, wanted an Arrow but as with Thruxton Bonneville like Hen's teeth.
Son now has my last R1 as couldn't bear to sell it, so hopefully enjoying my Fazer for a while more. 8)
Age is a question of mind over matter, if you don't mind, it doesn't matter!
If I had a brain I would be dangerous

Hello from me and keep enjoying yourself, I was told by an old friend of my dads that in 1956 January on a mildly tuned BSA Golden Flash Double adult sidecar outfit going down a long fairly steep slope. My dads friend[youngster at the time]on the pillion seat, my mam with my soon to be older brother in her arms[on front seat of sidecar] and a local man Sam on the sidecars back seat with my soon to be eldest brother in his arms. And lastly me in my mams womb  to be born in about a month and half. That day was my dads friend Hubert's first experience of seeing a Ton on a speedo[obviously a bit of error involved] But I was/am still chuffed to bits.
Just incase you are wondering my parents had us 3 boys between Apr 54 and Feb 56[this will be me]. Good night for now and thanks for the nice welcome. Tommy
