Well, the monkey is off my back.

Had an off today on my YBR125.
Approaching a roundabout going straight on, oncoming traffic all in the straight ahead lane, no right turners.
The lead van is half way across the roundabout turns his indicator on and performs a 180. i grab the brakes not speeding and go down on the left hand side and stop a meter from the painted circle. Look up and he's driving off in the distance. Prick.
Can't believe i braked so badly.
Whats really annoying was that it happened 500m further back on another mini roundabout but i stopped in time and upright. I thought to myself I'm getting a camera now. Well can't afford one now as i now need to replace my helmet because i smacked that on the ground as well.
Bike has minor damage yeah crash bars, and my left hand is swollen to ballon size, nothing broken thankfully.

Dont kick yourself skipper....we are but human...regardless of how much training we do.....besides it was a slow speed off on a YBR, not a high speed off on a H2R.
If everyone was as good as they they are or think they should be then there would be no market in ABS brakes......i dont think theres anyone out there that wont get caught out with braking at some point with no ABS.

Those low speed tumbles I think are the worst, like someone kicked your feet from under you and you've your own weight + the weight of the bike when you hit the road. At speed you don't have so far to fall (going off the edge of the tyre) and you can push the bike away and let your leathers protect your skin
An old friend and I had separate accidents one night. He fell at under 10mph on ice and I almost 10x that (kmh of course) I had a scrap engine case and some paintwork to repair, poor old Daz got tangled up with the bike and ended up with permanent paralysis in one arm.

It is a bummer that you had a spill, but the main thing is you are okay. Bikes can be fixed, sometimes you can't.

Pleased to hear you're OK. My old teacher told me to regard everyone else on the road as a complete idiot except yourself. It's good advice but doesn't allow for the fact you sometimes let your guard down and the complete idiot ends up causing you grief. As has been said bikes can be mended and gear replaced. You can sometimes be mended but never replaced. Take it as a lesson you survived and it will serve you well in the future, as many others, myself included have. Good luck and safe driving.
PS: If you still need an helmet Ghost Bikes have got a sale on.
