For those who are interested I just uploaded this to the download section under useful stuff.

This clears up all the confusion of EXUP working  :eek

Quite interesting to see how the baffle works in the original exhaust as well.

I presume your dummy is to simulate the exup when the valve has been removed.

I think the diagram relates to the R1 as I found it last June when trying to resolve a problem with a non starting "stolen recovered R1" and forgot about it until I was looking for a fazer file this morning.

Correct, the dummy is used to eliminate the fault code. Fakes identical (electrical) behaviour for the ECU.
The Exup seems to be work the same way since FZR until present.
Do you have the original link for the diagram?

On a slightly different note, I wonder why nearly everybody always changes the end can? you'd think that Yamaha would it licked when it came to power with the OEM item

Probably because, like with the FZ6's Engine Map, they've had to make compromises (or fiddles) to fit in with legislation and licensing requirements.
